Born in Naples in 1949, he is married and has two children. He received a Degree in Law from the University “Federico II” of Naples in 1972 and finished his specialization in Civil Law in 1975. In 1994 he obtained a Master Degree in International Law at the American University Washington College.
He has been engaged in academic and professional activities. From 1975 to 1977 he was assistant professor at the University of Naples Economics and Commerce faculty and from 1975 to 1979 he was assistant professor of Civil Law at the University of Rome Law faculty. From 1975 to 1982 he practiced law in Rome and Milan.
In 1983 he was named Head of Legal Affairs at Aeritalia SpA – Società Aerospaziale Italiana (IRI – Finmeccanica SpA Group). He was Vice-President of General Counsel ATR Inc. (J.V. Aerospatiale – Aeritalia) from 1987 to 1989, when he joined Aeritalia SpA again as Head of Legal Affairs.
From 1991 to 1997 he served as Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs for Alitalia SpA, while from 1997 to August 1999 he was Director of Legal and General Affairs of Edison SpA (Compart – Montedison SpA Group) and, from September 1999 to March 2000, he was Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs for De Agostini SpA.
Since April 2000 he is the Legal Director of Enel.
