Production
Following the agreement signed with Edf, Enel France acquired a 12.5%
share in Flamanville 3 European Pressurized Water Reactor (EPR): the newest
generation of nuclear power plants. Enel France, furthermore, has signed an
agreement with Edf to acquire a 12.5% stake in the next five EPRs. Sixty Enel
engineers are working on the Flamanville 3 project. The plant will be up and
running in 2012.
Enel France is also active in Belgium owning a project under construction with
Duferco, one of the major iron and steel groups in Europe, to build a combined
cycle gas power plant, with a capacity of approximately 420 MW power
plant.
Supply and Trading
Enel France works in partnership with Enel’s trading arm in Rome and has
been supplying power to French consumers since 2005. Enel France is tripling is
portfolio each year and forecasts to sell over 5 TWh in 2010 to large
industrials customers.
Enel, through its trading division, owns 5% of the French EPEX (European Power
Exchange) and is among the country’s main power traders.
Renewable
In the renewable energy sector, Enel Green Power operates through
Enel Erelis which is an important operator of wind power in France
owning seven wind farms with 68 MW of installed capacity with about 500 MW of
future projects in their portfolio.
Enel Erelis is also responsible for the diversification of the ENEL group in
France into other green technologies such as hydroelectric, geothermal, solar
and biomass power.
