E-mobility - Technology

E-mobility Italy - one of the world's major electric mobility projects - was launched by Smart, the most youthful and innovative brand of the Daimler Group, and by Enel, the largest power company in Italy and the second European utility for installed capacity

Under this pilot project, which will be developed from 2010 onwards in the cities of Rome, Pisa and Milan - Daimler will provide over 100 electrically powered vehicles – also taking care of their maintenance - to a number of selected customers, On the other hand, Enel will develop, creating and operate the charging network, which will include over 400 "smart" charging stations, in order to provide a safe, efficient and convenient service.

The 100 customers, companies and individuals, have been selected among those who have applied on a specific website. Using Enel's smart charging network, vehicles can be charged both at home (in a garage) or in a public environment, and the innovative remote network system, created by Enel, will allow participants in the e-mobility Italy project to know where charging stations are located.

Another essential environmental benefit originated from electric mobility, both at the local and national level, will be the drastic abatement, in cities and places where the vehicle is used, of all emissions: carbon dioxide (CO2), benzene, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and particulates.
