EDSO (European Distribution System Operators) for Smart Grids is the non-profit association that brings together the largest European electricity distributors with the aim of researching, developing, and carrying out large-scale demonstration projects on Smart Grids.
EDSO’s main objectives, in line with the European Community, are:
- allow the transmission and distribution of up to 35% of energy produced by renewable sources (dispersed or concentrated) and reset carbon dioxide emissions from electricity production to zero by 2050;
- further integrate national networks into a pan-European network;
- optimize operative costs and investments to improve European networks.
