Enel goes public with Open Data

Published: 2012-05-03

Enel is the first italian business to make its financial, sustainability and environmental performance data available through Open Data philosophy. A project for everyone: institutions, journalists, shareholders and man in the street.

Enel, dati del bilancio con Open Data

Enel's reports have been available to view on the company's website for some time now, but from today there will be a new level of interactivity – data from 2011's financial statement will be available to not only download, but also to use.

If you go to http://data.enel.com/en it is now possible not only to consult data regarding the Group's financial, environmental and sustainability performance, but also download those documents to your computer in XLS, CSV and XML file formats.

This move is the latest confirmation of the Group's commitment to "Open Data", an international movement that promotes data transparency.

The data.enel.com project is aimed at providing more information for everyone, from institutions and journalists to shareholders and the man in the street. It follows the example given by public bodies in the United States and Great Britain, which have used Open Data as a way of opening a dialogue with other organisations, institutions and the local population.
