We have become increasingly aware of  the need to expand our  social and environmental  responsibility and have acknowledged the need to maximize economic and other positive impacts on the communities in which we operate, respecting and, wherever possible, improving the environment.  Since being considered good citizens is essential to consolidate the reputation and reliability of a company, which is a long-lasting value.

Now we must pass on this awareness, developed over the many years in which we have been the engine of Italy’s development, to the 40 countries where we operate. Enel has become one of the world’s leading energy companies, since our installed capacity  amounts to 97,000 MW, we have 80,000 employees and we serve 81 million customers

Our ability to provide innovative solutions for the global climate change challenge will be an essential test. For this reason, together with the goals regarding the improvement of results and reducing injuries down to zero, Enel has set an ambitious target for itself: to become the world’s first group that will produce zero emission electricity by 2050.

Enel is ready to take action to offer future generations a better world, and it its efforts are proved by facts. Nevertheless, the development and deployment of  innovations requires public support, not only under a financial point of view. Even more important is a stable, symmetrical and regulatory framework that is as much as possible unified in all countries, especially in Europe. The huge private investment needed to face and overcome the challenge of a future development without an impact on the environment requires stable market mechanisms. The latter must set long-term prices that allow flexibility and offsets that ensure a soft transition towards a new economic and social development model.
