Environmental Report
In the Annual Environmental Report, published by Enel since 1996, we
describe yearly initiatives and results achieved by the company's environmental
policy, also comparing them with the previous 5 years.
In particular, we examine all activities held in the world, in particular:
manufacturing, distribution and marketing activities concerning electricity,
natural gas, mining and quarrying.
This document is therefore an opportunity to review the Company ‘s activities
and it is a useful tool to achieve more ambitious and qualifying goals.
The Report describes the environmental organization of Enel and the
instruments of governance, with a specific focus on our strategy in climate
change combat.
Performance and data are presented both for the Group as a whole and in a
differentiated way per single country. In addition, we also highlighted the
activities and the most significant results of the various divisions, according
to different technological chains.
The formats used to collect the data, both process and governance, are being
continuously updated in accordance with the evolutions of Enel's organizational
configuration, but also in accordance with legislation and technologies and the
returns of experience.
The collection of data on health and safety at work is performed at different
levels (company, division, corporate).
The methodology for the collection is based on principles and guide lines
provided by the Enrico Mattei Foundation and are integrated by
experience feedbacks and indications of the verifiers; since 2007 the
indications provided by GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) are taken into
consideration. Technical definitions are taken from the publications of
UNIPEDE (International Union of Manufacturers and Distributors of
Electricity). Concerning data on safety, we take into account the parameters of
job security used in prospectuses emanated by ILO (International Labor
Organization), Eurostat / Istat, INAIL (National Institute for Insurance
against Accidents at Work ) and the American OSHA (Occupational Safety
& Health Administration).
The formulas and methods used in the Company are consolidated and follow the
rules of unification and the international standards.
Also, to uniform the process of collecting, calculating and disseminating data,
the Group delivers specific policies and procedures relating to values and
indices.
