Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes

Enel’s economic performance is based on increasing value for all the stakeholders by carefully monitoring operating and financial risks, so the Company can maintain its current financial rating levels.

Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes 

In 2012, for the ninth year in a row, Enel is admitted to the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index and the selective Dow Jones World. In particular, the latter includes just 342 of the 2,500 major companies in the world which are top as regards sustainability. 2012 Company Score increased to 83/100.

FTSE4Good

In March 2011, the Enel Group was also admitted to the prestigious FTSE4Good index and in September 2012 Semi-Annual Review there was the re-confirmation, with the 4/5 ESG Absolute Score and the 90/100 Supersector Relative.

Created by the FTSE Global Index Company, the FTSE4Good Index Series has been designed to promote investment in companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards.  The companies admitted to the FTSE4Good index have met stringent social and environmental requirements and have been considered capable of capitalizing benefits originating from a company’s responsible behaviour.

Carbon Disclosure Project

In September 2012, amongst the companies present in the Global 500 asked by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) to report on climate change, Enel has improved its disclosure score from 89 to 91. The CDP is a highly-regarded British organization representing 655 investors with US$78 trillion of assets: it works with them to advance the investment opportunities and reduce the risks posed by climate change by asking almost 6,000 of the world’s largest companies to report on their climate strategies, GHG emissions and energy use in the standardized Investor CDP format.
