Bulgaria
Enel has been present in Bulgaria since March 2003 and controls one of the
largest power plants in the country, the lignite-fired Maritza East III,
with 602 MW of installed power. Thanks to Enel’s improvement and modernisation
project, it is the first power plant in South Eastern Europe to comply with EU
environmental standards.
Furthermore, the presence of Enel Green Power is driving the development of
projects in generation from renewable sources, for which the first 39 MW will
be delivered in 2009.
