Decide with your Heart - edition 2012

IN THE FACE OF VIOLENCE AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE, LET’S NOT RAISE OUR HANDS AND GIVE UP.

LET’S NOT RAISE OUR HANDS AND PRODUCE EVEN MORE VIOLENCE.

LET’S NOT RAISE OUR HANDS IN A GESTURE OF SURRENDER.

For the second edition of Decide with your Heart, Enel Cuore invites associations to present a project based on the subject of violence among young people.

The issue of violence among young people and the increase in aggressive behaviour may be interpreted in a wide variety of ways. Minors commit violent acts against other people, themselves, against the local landscape and also the communities they live in. Such violent acts of behaviour may include an extremely varied range of types; the most common and easily recognized include the following:

  • bullying;
  • cyber bullying;
  • football hooligans;
  • acts of vandalism;
  • baby gangs;
  • acts of masochism;
  • addiction to drugs/alcohol;
  • food-related disorders;
  • discrimination.

Violent behaviours also include the following crimes:

  • crimes against property/assets (robberies, extortion, theft, handling stolen goods...);
  • against people (murder, assault and battery, bodily harm, affray, sexual violence, prostitution);
  • against safety, the economy, legal tender (violation of laws regarding drugs, forgery and counterfeiting);
  • against the State, institutions and public order;
  • against the family, morality and public decency.

The reasons for violent conduct are generally related to the family, the socio-economic environment, and peer group. These three aspects are clearly interrelated and often have a multiplying effect in terms of potential risk.

The steps of "Decide with your Heart"

1. Presentation of projects by the Associations
From 14 march 2012 until 30 april 2012
those Italian and foreign associations have submitted a project to contrast violence among young people.

2. Selection by Enel Cuore
All projects received will be assessed by the Enel Cuore Board which, in compliance with the specified criteria for selection,  will select one or more of the projects which will be assigned funding amounting to maximum 60,000 euro each.

Such funding refers to structural  and infrastructural costs only, as well as the purchasing of primary materials. Costs related to management, human resources and training are the responsibility of the Association itself.

3. Click raising
Starting from September 2012 you will be able to vote for the projects chosen by Enel Cuore using the "click raising" mechanism.

Enel Cuore will allocate additional funding to the initiatives selected, which will be distributed in proportion to the number of votes each project receives, according to the opinions expressed by the public online.

A "click raising" operation of significant social value that aims at increasing everyone's awareness concerning major social issues, involving them and making them an active part of a genuine helping process.
