Sergio Barbarossa is Full Professor at Sapienza University in Rome and Senior Research Fellow at the Sapienza School for Advanced Studies (SSAS). He is an IEEE and EURASIP Fellow. He has received the Technical Achievements Award from EURASIP and the IEEE Signal Processing Society Best Paper Award (2000, 2010, 2014, 2020). He has worked at Selenia S.p.A. and the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan and has been a Visiting Professor at the Universities of Virginia and Minnesota. He has coordinated European projects and is head of a national PNRR project, "Network Intelligence." He is the author of some 300 publications, while his areas of interest include semantic communication, knowledge representation in AI, distributed machine learning, and 6G networks. He has been included by Stanford University in the top 2% of the "World's Top Scientists."
