ENELPOWER NOMINATES GIORGIO DE PANNO CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Rome, August 7, 2002 - The board of Enelpower today took stock of the resignation of board member and Chief Executive Officer Luigi Giuffrida and coopted Giorgio de Panno, to whom the role and power of Chief Executive Officer have been confered. De Panno comes from SNIA where, from 1998 as Chief Executive Officer of Caffaro SpA, he lead the "Chemicals and Energy" sector. He has consolidated experience in engineering, having held senior positions at Tecnimont, Gruppo Fochi and Fisia Italimpianti. The board thanked Mr. Giuffrida, who will remain with the Enel group, for his contribution, in recent years, to the development of the Company.
