Enel's projects and initiatives to support the community Enel are classified according to the methodology of the London Benchmarking Group (LBG).
The model was created in the UK in 1994 by a project aimed to define the categories of benchmarking of corporate social performance. It consists of a methodology to measure the support granted by the Company to community development.
This model ensures continuity and consistency between strategic and social objectives, distinguishing between four main categories that form Enel's commitment to the communities.

For the most part, Enel's philanthropic and solidarity activities are
performed by Enel Cuore, the non-profit association formed by Enel SpA and its
subsidiaries (Enel Distribuzione, Enel Produzione, Enel Trade, Enel Energia,
Enel Sole, Enel.si).
As a result of regulatory constraints in Italy, there are no donations "in kind" of electricity or gas.
Only in exceptional circumstances pro bono services, such as the provision of generators in the event of natural disasters, can be made. The Company is also studying a plan to support the executers of voluntary actions. In 2008, 31.3 million euros - of which 25 million are donations to support the Special Fund (ex art. 81, D.L. 112/2008 - Social Card) - have been granted in favour of Enel Cuore Onlus.
