Insurance provides a subject - in this case the Enel Group - with protection against possibly negative economic consequences resulting from future and uncertain events.
As part of the Risk Management Function of Enel Group, the Insurance Unit operates following the general principles set out by the Top Management about the propensity to risk, having the task of identifying the insurable types of risk, of assessing the strategies to transfer them to the market in an optimal way, of buying the necessary coverages and managing them over time.
In the process of transfering its insurable risks, the Group also takes advantage by its own Reinsurance Captive Company. This Company is mainly used to cover the risk of damages characterized by low value and high frequency. Above the level of retention of the Reinsurance Company, the risk is further transferred to the Market.
