Enel at African Utility Week

The future of energy and water resources in Africa was discussed at the 14th edition of African Utility Week, which took place in Cape Town over 13-14 May. The exhibition brought together representatives of African businesses and institutions, as well as major global industrial figures.

Potential solutions for Africa's water and energy needs were discussed, as well as renewable energy, fossil fuels, smart grids and clean technology. The two-day conference has become a key event for energy businesses, governments, consultants, investors and legislators, who are seeking ways of enabling global market solutions to meet the needs of African nations. 

Enel has been present in Africa for a few years now and the Group's development plans  for the near future will see it work on growth and diversification in a number of countries on the continent.

Enel Green Power and Enel Distribuzione took part in the Cape Town event. EGP's country manager for South Africa Lamberto Dai Pra'was in attendance alongside Franca Camplone and Giovanni Di Ielsi, who help him with commercial development in the country. Also taking part was Enel Distribuzione's Head of the international commercial development for Africa Marco Iadevaia,who said that the event was 'a valuable opportunity to highlight Enel's experience in smart grids, starting with the smart metering technology that the company adopted in 2001'.
