Eidos Market, Enel's internal crowdsourcing platform that involves the more than 71,000 employees around the world working for the Group, recently won Italy's 2014 National Innovation Prize. It was praised 'for having mined the creative spirit and initiative through the Eidos Market system, which can be used by all of Enel's employees to propose, discuss and select which innovation projects should be carried out'.
Commonly referred to as the Prize of Prizes, the National Innovation Prize was established in 2008 by the Italian Prime Minister's Office at the request of the country's Ministry of Education, Universities and Research and the COTEC Foundation. The award is handed out in five categories – industry and services, Italian design, university and public research - and is one of Italy's most important innovation awards, offering a snapshot of innovation within Italian business.
The award ceremony, which took place on 17 September in Rome, was preceded by the debate Innovative Italy: bringing about change through successful experiences. This year the Eidos Market project won in the industry and services sector for the category Large Global Industrial Groups.
Eidos Market is a crowdsourcing project based on a bottom-up approach that allows everyone in the company to propose, comment and select innovative ideas to solve the challenges presented by Enel management. This project follows the track of a model pioneered by Enel's Spanish and Latin-American subsidiaries as of 2012. It has been extended to all Enel Group on last February, becoming so far a global project aimed at stimulating generation of valuable, concrete solutions for Enel's business.
