The concerted action implemented to deal with the consequences of the dramatic earthquake that has hit Central Italy is continuing. Enel Group companies have been cooperating with Italy’s Civil Protection Agency to ensure all the necessary support at this stage, especially in terms of maintenance of essential services and to ensure the safety of rescuers.

A task force of around 300 people, comprising internal and external resources, has been fielded and is currently working on several fronts. Enel immediately implemented controls on all hydroelectric facilities present in the regions hit by the quake. Controls have shown that the facilities are unaffected by recent events and ensure their safety.

After having last night restored services to enabled users in the municipalities hit by the quake, e-distribuzione, the company active on the Italian market in the distribution of electricity, is now committed in all the activities of support and management of the emergency, and in particular, in ensuring power for the structures set up to aid evacuees. A task carried out in coordination with the actions of Italy’s Civil Protection Agency.

Another major emergency management intervention entials bringing light and energy to evacuees: e-distribuzione has provided 100 generators and 12 light towers to help run the tent cities set up by Italy’s Civil Protection Agency.

People now on Italian territory may inform Enel about failure of the national electrical grid through the call center at the free number 803 500 and via Internet on http://e-distribuzione.it. For information on the electricity service, check the site: www.enelalert.it.

We express our deepest solidarity with the people involved in the disaster and a particular closeness to families who have lost loved ones in the earthquake.
