GRTN: ITALIAN FAMILIES MAY SUFFER INTERRUPTIONS TO ELECTRICITY SUPPLY

Enel will do everything possible to avert the suspension of energy supplies to hospitals and other essential public services

Rome, June 25, 2003

- Enel Distribuzione has been informed by the national grid manager - Gestore Nazionale della Rete di Trasporto (GRTN) - that tomorrow, Thursday June 26, it may have to interrupt the supply of electricity for about 1,300 MW.

Interruptions will be applied on rotation from 09:00 and could effect customers throughout Italy.

Enel apologizes for any possible inconveniences and promises to do as much as possible to avert interruptions to hospitals and other essential public services.
