Rome, 24 January 2008 The Chairman of Enel, Piero Gnudi, met today in Rome with Greek Development Minister Christos Folias with whom he discussed possible Group contributions to the expansion on the Greek electricity market.
During the meeting, Gnudi, accompanied by the head of the International Division, Carlo Tamburi, explained to Folias the benefits of introducing remote metering system and took him to visit Enel Distribuziones control room which remotely monitors 30 million smart meters.
Folias was then told about Enels research programmes from the trapping and containment of CO2 emissions to its hydrogen technology programmes - and the Groups commitment to developing renewable resources, strategic for Enels growth in Greece.
Finally, Gnudi showed Folias the results achieved by using clean coal technologies in large-scale generation.
The ministers trip ended with a visit to the Torrevaldaliga Nord power plant in Civitavecchia, the biggest site of this kind in Europe where Enels engineers demonstrated the clean coal technologies adopted, especially those relating to emission reductions and efficiency increases.
