ENEL GREEN POWER TO DEVELOP UP TO 1,000 MW OF WIND POWER PROJECTS IN MEXICO

Enel Group’s company dedicated to the development and the operations of renewable sources signed an agreement with Enerthi to develop new wind power generation in Mexico.
Thanks to this agreement, Enel Green Power will further increase its position in the promising Mexican renewable energy market characterized by a wind potential of over 10,000 MW to be exploited in the coming years.

Rome - Mexico City, November 9th, 2009 - Enel Green Power, a unit of the Enel Group, through its subsidiary Enel Latin America, B.V., today announced a project development agreement with Energías Renovables, Térmica e Hidráulica de México, S.A. (Enerthi) aimed at developing wind power projects in Mexico for a total capacity of up to 1,000 MW.  

Through this agreement, Enel Green Power will have exclusive access to wind power projects being developed by Enerthi, as well as the right to acquire these projects once they are fully authorized. The projects are located in the states of Baja California, Zacatecas and Oaxaca with a preliminary capacity for each project ranging between 60 to 200 MW.   
                 
The Enel Group’s company entered the Mexican power market in 2007 and operates 3 hydro plants for a total installed capacity of 52 MW.

Thanks to this agreement, Enel will further increase its presence in the promising Mexican renewable energy market thus opening its technological portfolio to the development of wind power.
