EGPs first Green Innovation Point will be established at TIS technology park. Objectives are local development as well as promotion of resident academic and business skills in the study, testing and industrialisation of new technologies for renewables.
Rome-Bolzano, September 29th, 2012 Enel Green Power, the Department of Innovation, Research, Development and Cooperatives of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and TIS - Techno Innovation Park today signed a three-year memorandum of understanding to promote technological innovation in power generation from renewables.
The agreement is intended to stimulate the development, testing and dissemination of innovative technologies throughout the Province of Bolzano, which has long paid close attention to sustainability issues, thanks to the expertise of Enel Green Power, a global player in the field of renewable generation, and TIS, an innovation hub where successful business experiences join forces with the expertise of three university centres of excellence: those of Trento, Bolzano and Innsbruck.
The three parties will be able to cooperate in carrying out training, applied research and consultancy programmes for the introduction and development of know-how in the field of innovative technologies in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, with regards, among other things, to small hydro plants and biomass generation facilities, distributed micro-generation, storage, as well as the creation, design and operation of demo programmes and the development of energy islands and isolated systems.
EGP will set up a Green Innovation Point at TIS to share ideas, projects, products and services for which partnerships with local businesses and academic institutions can be developed.
A virtuous cycle will be initiated in Alto Adige, for the benefit of a territory, and above all, a community that has always been attentive to sustainability, stated Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel Green Power, This in an initiative that aims to spread the use of renewable sources through the testing and distribution of cutting-edge technologies, something to which EGP has always been committed.
The presence of Enel Green Power at TIS enables businesses in Alto Adige to interact with a global leader, gain expertise in innovative technologies, access a network of excellence, stated Roberto Bizzo, Councilor for Innovation, Research, Development and Co-operatives for the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. "Combining the strengths of our territory with the most advanced international developments: this is a strategy that can serve as a model for the new Technology Park of Bolzano.
Hubert Hofer, Director General of TIS (Techno Innovation Park), highlighted The role of TIS in technology transfer, renewable energy being one of its strengths. TIS will provide and coordinate its local business contacts network.
