Rome, March 15th, 2022 - Less than a month after its launch, over 700 young people from all over Italy have already applied to take part in “Energie per Crescere” (Energy for Growth), the program launched by Enel in February, in collaboration with training body ELIS, which aims to create a pool of technical professionals to manage the energy networks of the future and ready to be included among Enel’s suppliers.

With the development of the increasingly efficient, digitized, resilient and carbon-free energy infrastructures that will be designed over the next few years, the demand for new professionals with the ability to collaborate to achieve the objectives of the energy transition is also growing, and these highly specialized technical professionals must also have digital skills.

“With this program we hope to contribute to creating new growth opportunities for young people and for our supplier companies by promoting technical training”, explains Nicola Lanzetta, Director of Enel Italia. “We believe, in fact, that human capital is central to achieving the objectives of the energy transition. The number of applications received so far demonstrates the success of the initiative and tell us that more and more young people see the program as an opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills.”

“ELIS has always made it its aim to train people for employment and give young people the opportunity to achieve what they want to in life,” explains Pietro Cum, Managing Director of ELIS. “The “Energie per Crescere” program and the response it is receiving remind us that achieving the objectives of the ecological and digital transitions and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan will depend heavily on the training of specialized technical personnel. This need is very strongly felt on the parts of our corporate partners and this collaboration with Enel is a great opportunity to contribute as trainers to both development and employment.”

The “Energie per Crescere” program aims to integrate some 5,500 young people into the workplace within the next two years, notably through the training of technicians to be employed in operational roles, with a particular focus on activities relating to the management of electricity networks (wire pullers, cable splicers, secondary substation and PTP fitters and LV live operators). Requests for personnel from companies participating in the program are organized geographically and, during the selection phase, managed by some of the largest employment agencies, including Manpower, Randstad, GiGroup, Umana, OpenJob Metis. Candidates get the opportunity to consider the proposed place of employment prior to starting their training.

ELIS coordinates selection and training for the initiative and assists with the identification of career paths, which is set to see candidates hired in one of Enel's partner companies on a fixed-term contract of six months or more, with the opportunity for subsequent employment. Placement with a company will follow five weeks of free training at Accredia-certified institutes, for which participants will also receive an 800 euro grant to cover expenses. There are currently 10 training institutions involved in the program in addition to Elis, including Heading, Agorà, Fasten, Assimpianti, Ecotech, CM Servizi, New Tecna, Dharma and Formamente.

Applications for the “Energie per Crescere” program are still open and any young people interested in taking part should visit www.elis.org/enelopenschool, where they will find further information and the online application form.
