E-mobility: Enel and A2A sign agreement on interoperability between charging networks

  • The partnership will allow customers of both companies to charge their vehicles at around 15,000 charging points across Italy

Rome, Milan, January 19th, 2022 – Enel, through its new global business line dedicated to electric mobility, and A2A have signed an agreement that will enable their e-mobility service customers to access the two companies’ network of around 15,000 charging points throughout Italy.

The agreement with A2A shows how, as a result of the collaboration between the various operators, it is possible to expand the availability of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles,” said Elisabetta Ripa, Head of Enel’s Global Business Line dedicated to electric mobility. “The widespread presence of charging stations and the simplification and speed of charging operations are the main drivers of the process of spreading electric mobility, which we want to continue to boost in Italy and around the world by developing the best solutions for charging electric vehicles in the public and private sectors.

Supporting the electrification of consumption and making infrastructure and services available to customers, is one of the key points of A2A’s strategy, in line with its industrial plan up to 2030,” said Fabio Pressi, Managing Director of A2A E-Mobility. “The contribution that the development of electric mobility can make to the challenge posed by decarbonisation is of great importance and the agreement signed with Enel moves in this direction. The interoperability of the charging networks is a key factor in supporting the spread of e-mobility, so the system can provide greater flexibility and coverage throughout Italy, making our charging stations available to a larger number of users and increasing the services offered.

The partnership will allow users of A2A’s E-moving app and Enel’s JuicePass app to fill up their electric cars at the two companies’ public charging facilities. These are the best charging technologies on the market: Quick chargers of 22 kW, Fast chargers of up to 50 kW and High Power Chargers which, with a power output of up to 350 kW, can provide an 80% charge to the electric vehicle in around 20 minutes.
