Two Italian youngsters will be making their victorious maiden appearance at the Berlin circuit, when the 9th Grand Prix of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship takes place on 19 May. The two winners of Enel’s special competition The Circuit, which was only open to Italian residents, will have front-row seats for the race at the Tempelhof Airport circuit. The online game tested players’ knowledge of both electric mobility and Formula E, and the skill the two guys displayed won them a VIP experience at the German round, a live event well on a par with the spectacle delivered by Formula 1. Indeed, for this fourth outing (2.37 km per lap), the number of bends on the course has been cut to speed up the racing and there are now just 10, as opposed to the 17 of the 2015 competition.

You can still play the game by logging on to the thecircuit.enel.com from your mobile or desktop device, but it is now more about familiarising the players with the most innovative aspects of the electric single-seater races and enjoying the exhilaration of competitive driving.

The competition was launched in April to celebrate Formula E’s arrival in Rome, as this was the first time the Eternal City featured in the calendar. The Enel Group is Official Power Partner to the series and, as of next year, will also be the Official Smart Charging Partner. Thanks to Enel’s charging technologies and its Superchargers, from next season on, the cars will pack batteries with a large enough storage capacity to enable them to complete the entire race without the “pit stops” currently necessary to allow them to recharge. Enel and Formula E also announced the extension of their partnership for a further 5 years at the Rome event.

The Circuit winners were picked from the group of players who completed an online simulation of the Rome E-Prix “road race” in under two minutes. Proving once again that Enel ensures that anyone can become a key player in the ongoing e-mobility revolution.
