ENEL CHIEF EXECUTIVE PAOLO SCARONI MEETS WITH UNIONS

Rome, October 9, 2002 – The Chief Executive of Enel SpA, Paolo Scaroni, met today with the Confederations and Representatives of the electrical sector unions. They met for a closer examination of the guidelines behind the new industrial plan, in a context of ever greater energy market liberalization. In particular, the chief executive underlined the following points: a focus on the core energy business (electricity and gas), the growing of sales skills related to freemarket clients, constant attention to efficiency increases and to the quality of service, a re-examination of diversified activities. With the aim of enhancing industrial relations, the meeting ended with an undertaking from all parties to define a program of informational talks that will facilitate discussions between the company and union representatives on the strategic and organizational decisions that may become necessary.
