ENEL: MAIN SPONSOR AND DONOR OF THE 56TH INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION – LA BIENNALE DI VENEZIA

The event will be taking place in Venice from May 9th to November 22nd, 2015.

Venice, May 6th, 2015 – Enel is the main sponsor and donor of the 56th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia. In keeping with its desire to support art and culture in all its different forms and expressions, working alongside major institutions and as a legacy to the community as a whole, the partnership between Enel and la Biennale di Venezia continues, with the event beginning in the City of Canals on May 9th, 2015. The 2015 Exhibition is set to consolidate the close relationship with la Biennale di Venezia, which began in 2008 on the occasion of the 11th International Architecture Exhibition and strengthen in 2009 as Main Sponsor of the 53rd International Art Exhibition. The goal this year is to encourage a simpler programme as well as enhancing long-term cultural management.

With a presence in 32 countries around the world, Enel is one of today’s world leaders in the generation, distribution and sale of electricity and gas, and is also keen to play a social role, having promoted culture in Italy and abroad for many years.

In recent years, Enel has been particularly keen to embrace the language of contemporary art because of its ability to express and convey values such as innovation, respect for the environment and an international vision. These are the three key guiding principles that need to be adhered to in order to guarantee a sustainable future. These guiding principles now proudly represent the development strategy of a Group like Enel.

Since 2007 Enel has promoted Enel Contemporanea, the public art project. Each year, this initiative commissions artists of different nationalities to create works of art inspired by the theme of energy (www.enelcontemporanea.com).

Throughout the period of the 56th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia, electric bicycles supplied by Enel Energia will be made available to staff, enabling them to travel anywhere with the minimum of effort while saving money in the process: spending just one euro they will be able to travel as far as 250 kilometres. The bikes all have aluminium frames, removable batteries and high quality parts, and they have been selected from among Italy’s leading bicycle manufacturers.
