For the fifth consecutive year Enel's Chilean subsidiary Chilectra made second place in the Prohumana Foundation's Corporate Social Responsibility ranking, bagging the well-known sello Platino award for the first time.

President of Chile Michelle Bachelet attended award ceremony, which saw the prize handed to Enersis General Manager Cristian Fierro and its Deputy General Manager Massimo Tambosco. Minister for Employment and Social Security Javiera Blanco congratulated the pair, underlining the role played by Chilectra in this sort of initiative.

'This is an important acknowledgement for us that strengthens our daily efforts in all our corporate policies,' said Fierro.

For the Enel Group the award is yet another confirmation of its commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. Since 2004 Enel has been among the top 50 businesses in the world that apply ethical principles on human rights, protection of the environment, labour rights and the fight against corruption within the United Nations Global Compact initiative. In 2011 it joined the Global Compact LEAD, which includes companies who stand out for their sustainability strategies.

Besides Chilectra's sustainability activities, in Chile the Enel Group's renewable energy arm Enel Green Power has begun the Ollagüe project in the Atacama Desert. By equipping a hybrid PV solar and wind power plant with Energy Storage System (BESS) batteries and a diesel generator, the facility will provide green electricity 24 hours a day to the small Ollagüe community.
