Training is an issue of vital importance for an international company, and a good trainer can make all the difference. Hence, via its Human Resources and Organization and Health & Safety Units, in Romania Enel has launched the Training the Trainers programme, in which 40 employees from all regions of the country have consolidated their knowledge of working methods and safety measures in order to perform as trainers and pass their knowledge onto other colleagues and employees of contracting companies that work for the Group.

“Training is key to working on the electrical network in a safe and effective way. The Training the Trainers programme was launched in 2013, and we immediately involved the contractors with which we carry out a large number of activities,” explained Stefano Di Pietro, Head of HSE Quality Romania. “Our colleagues have responded with great passion and dedication, releasing useful feedback to improve future editions of the initiative”.

Enel's commitment to training is present on a worldwide scale: in 2014, the number of training hours per employee increased globally, especially in terms of specialized training for issues related to sustainability. Enel's training system, which was designed to meet a wide range of needs for the professionalization of resources, is divided into five levels.

The Leadership Curriculum is the set of initiatives that promote the improved performance and development of people's potential from the moment they are hired, accompanying them in all the significant stages of their professional career. The technical and operational academies are designed to develop the specialized technical skills of various professional groups. Campaign-based training aims to disseminate cross-cutting skills, which are the basis of corporate culture; while division-based training responds to the specific needs related to organizational changes and/or specialist change processes. Last, but certainly not least, is safety training, aimed at strengthening health and prevention culture, as well as sharing best practices.

In addition to these training instruments, which are provided across the whole Group, there are training initiatives designed to meet the specific needs of the various divisions and companies of the Group, in order to improve the effectiveness of labour within each organizational context.
