ENEL GREEN POWER DOUBLES ITS WIND CAPACITY IN BULGARIA

- With an installed capacity of 21 MW, the Shabla wind farm will be able to generate over 54.6 million kWh, thus meeting the energy needs of 19,000 households and avoiding the emission of around 45,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
- Enel Green Power actual total installed capacity in Bulgaria is 42 MW. In October 2009, the company brought into operation its first wind farm in Bulgaria – the 21-megawatt Kamen Briag wind farm in the municipality of Kavarna.

Sofia, May 10th 2010 – Enel Green Power, the Enel Group company fully dedicated to developing and managing power generation from renewable sources, commenced operation of its second wind farm in Bulgaria, which is located in the municipality of Shabla.

The new wind farm consists of 7 turbines with a capacity of 3 MW each, for a total installed capacity of 21 MW. With an annual production of over 54.6 million kWh, the wind farm will be able to meet the energy needs of 19,000 households while avoiding the emission of around 45,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. Thanks to the Shabla wind farm, Enel Green Power doubled its installed wind capacity in Bulgaria, which already totals 42 MW.

In late 2008 Enel Green Power Bulgaria signed an agreement with Global Wind Power Bulgaria (a subsidiary of the Danish Global Wind Power) for the acquisition of the Kamen Briag and Shabla wind projects. On October 5th, 2009 the company officially started operating its first wind farm in Bulgaria, the Kamen Briag plant in the municipality of Kavarna with an installed capacity of 21 MW.
