ENEL GREEN POWER: 96 MW OF NEW WIND CAPACITY IN SPAIN

Three new wind farms enter service for the Enel Group's renewable energy specialist in the Castilla-Leon and Andalusia regions: Cogollos (50 MW), El Puntal (26 MW) and Los Barrancos (20 MW).
Together, the three new plants will generate about 260 million kWh per year, equal to the consumption of more than 95,000 households.

Rome, January 19th, 2011 – Three new wind farms have started operation for Enel Green Power in Spain.

Cogollos, the first plant, located in the Castilla-Leon region, consists of 25 Gamesa G-87 wind turbines of 2 MW each, for a total installed capacity of 50 MW. With an annual output of nearly 140 million kWh, it will meet the needs of over 51,000 households, avoiding the atmospheric emission of 104,000 tons of CO2 per year as well as saving about 52,000 TOE (tonnes of oil equivalent) of fossil fuel per year.

The Los Barrancos facility, located in Andalusia, has an installed capacity of 20 MW, with 10 Gamesa G-87 wind turbines of 2 MW each. The expected output is approximately 55 million kWh, equivalent to the consumption of over 20,000 households, while emissions avoided will amount to over 40,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Finally, the El Puntal wind farm, again in the Andalusia region, consists of 13 Gamesa G-87 wind turbines of 2 MW each, for a total installed capacity of 26 MW. This plant, in which Enel Green Power has a 50% stake, will produce approximately 65 million kWh per year, enough to meet the needs of over 24,000 households and avoid the emission of over 48,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, as well as saving about 24,000 TOE of fossil fuel per year.

"The new projects", said Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel Green Power, "once again confirm Enel Green Power's growth strategy in the Spanish renewables market, which is exclusively focused on pre-registered projects, with a specific investment plan tailored to this purpose, constantly creating new employment opportunities and profits throughout the whole Iberian area."

Once fully operational, the three plants will produce a total of about 260 million kWh per year, meeting the energy needs of over 95,000 households.

Thanks to new plants, Enel Green Power’s total installed wind capacity in Iberia will reach 1,380 MW.

Enel Green Power is the Enel Group company dedicated to the development and management of power generation from renewable resources around the world, with a presence in Europe, North America and Latin America. It is an industry leader worldwide thanks to some 21 billion kilowatt hours generated from water, sun, wind and geothermal, meeting the energy needs of some 8 million households and avoiding 16 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year. The company has an installed capacity of about 5,900 MW, with over 600 facilities around the world and a generation mix that includes wind, solar, hydro, geothermal and biomass.
