Rome, February 28th, 2011 Fulvio Conti, Enels Chief Executive Officer and General Manager and Marco Staderini, Chief Executive Officer of Acea, today signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop the recharging infrastructure for e-mobility.
Todays agreement brings the two companies together to speed up the implementation of combined technology solutions for the recharge of electric vehicles under a single national and European standard, therefore encouraging regulatory bodies to lay down a legislative framework to support e-mobility.
Towards this aim, the memorandum provides for the launch of a series of joint tests and pilot schemes for e-mobility in Rome and in other Italian cities and regions, following specific agreements with the relevant institutional bodies, and in for the medium-term development of the recharging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Rome. The memorandum also provides for agreements with electric vehicle manufacturers to field-test and distribute these vehicles in areas of common interest. The memorandum also foresees the evaluation of joint research and development project opportunities in Italy and on a Europe-wide basis.
Enel has been working for a long time on the development of sustainable mobility, starting from the Italian capital, the first city in the country to launch a revolution in noise and emission-free mobility stated Fulvio Conti, CEO of the Enel Group. At Acea it is our aim to develop mobility solutions integrating renewable generation sources, starting with Commercitys 5 MW photovoltaic plant, the largest urban photovoltaic system in Italy. Therefore, we are delighted to have signed this agreement today which will allow us to field-test solutions for an efficient, widespread recharging infrastructure with Enel stated Aceas CEO Marco Staderini.
